Elegant Design Comes in Small Packages
The Haier 8-bottle wine cooler presents one of the best values for any enthusiast who would like to store a few bottles of wine without committing to taking up valuable floor space. That’s because this particular unit is designed for the countertop, yet has a reasonable capacity for a small collection of reds, whites or even champagne (though you will lose some capacity when storing larger bottles).
One thing that I really like about this particular unit is the attention that was paid to technology. Despite the fact that it is an 8-bottle counter top cooler, it features the same touch screen controls and LED temperature display that can be found on the higher capacity models. This is a nice touch considering that some manufacturers opt for a manual dial without a temperature display for smaller capacity wine coolers. After all, the need for a smaller capacity wine cooler does not mean that maintaining the integrity of your investment isn’t serious business.

Haier 8-Bottle Wine Cellar Detailed Review
Design and Functionality
The Haier 8-bottle wine cellar is a sleek and modern counter top unit that is part of line of freestanding wine coolers ranging in capacity from 6 bottles to 18 bottles. Each unit in this line features an all black exterior with black trim, clean lines and no embellishments – making them easy to pair with almost any kind of décor. What these coolers lack in aesthetic frills however, is more than made up for in the performance, technology and the integrity of the product itself.
One thing I really appreciate about the Haier 8-bottle wine cooler is the smoked glass door. Not only does the tinted glass protect wine from UV rays but, the door is slightly curved meaning that uncorked bottles actually do fit in this unit. In fact, you can easily fit an opened bottle with a vacu-vin on the rack in the cooler without it touching the door. I thought that was a nice touch for folks like myself who usually don’t finish their wine in one sitting.
Shelving and Capacity
This unit has adjustable chrome-plated wire shelving that easily slides out for cleaning. The shelves themselves do not slide out when placing bottles in them. As mentioned elsewhere in this review, the Haier 8-bottle wine cooler will hold larger bottles and champagne, but there’s a catch. When placing one of the larger bottles on the rack, you will essentially lose the space next to it and won’t be able to place another bottle there. So, can this unit hold larger bottles? In theory, yes. Is it made to hold larger bottles? No, at least not at the 8 bottle capacity.
Keeping your wine at the right temperature is essential to getting the best body and flavor and the Haier 8-bottle countertop wine cellar helps you do just that. With a temperature range of 46F – 66F this unit is calibrated to store either red or white wines at the optimal temperature.
With an 8 bottle capacity and dual-fan thermoelectric cooling technology, the interior temperature of the unit should remain fairly consistent throughout. This means you will have a decision to make when it comes to storing wine in this single zone cooler – red wine or white?
Digital controls and a blue LED display make it easy to set the temperature of your unit. Keep in mind that because this unit uses thermoelectric cooling, the minimum and maximum temperature of the interior of your unit is based on the ambient temperature of your environment.
Placement & Installation
One of the challenges that many condo and apartment dwellers have, is counter space – there usually isn’t enough of it! Fortunately, the 8-bottle Haier countertop wine cooler features a slim design with a footprint that is roughly about the same size as a sheet of legal paper. Talk about sleek and slim, this model is designed for narrow spaces.
What Others Are Saying
- Compact design
- Very quiet operation
- Fits corked bottles
- Good value for the price
Can take a while to get to the desired temperature depending on your ambient temperature.
- Not designed for bottles larger than standard 750ml.
- Can only store one type of wine
Keeping the unit stocked with bottles will help reduce electrical usage as the bottles help retain the temperature inside the unit once chilled.
Great Value for Wine Lovers and Connoisseurs
In all, the Haier 8-bottle counter top wine cellar is a great value for both beginning and experienced wine collectors. If you are starting to build your collection or just want to get a feel for storing wine, this is a well made starter unit that won’t break the bank. A narrow footprint and clean design allow it to fit on virtually any counter top without taking up too much space. We recommend this unit for wine lovers who enjoy having a few chilled bottles of their favorite wines on hand for any occasion.
